About This Project
Funding Amount: $100
Keshawn is a thirteen year old boy diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.
Since he was eight months old, all Keshawn has known is the hospital. By doing your part, we got Keshawn a hoop to play with for $100!
At eight months old, Keshawn was diagnosed with an extremely disabling form of cancer called Neuroblastoma -- stage 4. Neuroblastoma is a form of cancer which affects the sympathetic nervous system, which is associated with movement, sensation, and thinking. The doctors discovered eight tumors on his body, four of which on his brain, and a large one on his lungs, with the rest in his bone marrow.
He has been getting treated with chemotherapy, radiation, and antibiotic therapy at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Cancer Center in New York City for the beginning part of his life. When he was five, his family moved to North Carolina and has been getting treated at Levine's Children's Hospital since. When he was twelve, more tumors started to form and had to be removed, causing Keshawn to stroke. The right side of his body doesn't move, but he is in therapy to help it.
All Keshawn has known is hospitals and surgeries and treatments. All he wants is a hoop to play basketball with. Since you did your part, we were able to get this hoop for Keshawn to play with!
