DMP helped with a family's home after they were struck by tragedy.

The Saldana family was in desperate need for help with their mortgage payments and support after losing father and husband, Juan and Maria, battling breast cancer.

Maria Saldana is a woman with an incredible work ethic who experienced some unfortunate circumstances. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Maria's husband, Juan, died of a heart attack the day after Christmas. Juan was only 39 years old. He was warm-hearted and supportive. He was the main provider for the family.

Maria had two mouths to feed. She had a son named Justin who is eleven and a daughter named Ashley who is ten. Maria was concerned with having funds to pay for her family’s mortgage and utilities in addition to her medical bills.

DMP wanted to help.

We began a mission to get the Saldana family back on their feet. The DMP Street Team went out to the Saldanas to help with the house and show our support. DoingMyPart.com also gave the Saldanas a $2500 check to cover a couple months mortgage payment and utilities. This helped them stay afloat, although there is still a ways to go.

Here is what we have done so far at the house: 2. Replace 30” Bi-fold door 3. Spackle living room ceiling 4. Repair ice-maker line 5. Repair 3 window screens 6. Repair 2 floor boards in living room 7. Adjust and lubricate garage door 8. Replace 2 spindles on deck handrail 9. Replace 2 X 2PT on pergola 10. Remove Vines from deck 11. Pressure wash and seal deck 12. Stain handrail on deck 13. Spruce up yard.

Now, Maria is working 5 days per week, Justin is in baseball and Ashley is taking dance. The Saldanas will not be able to replace Juan, but with your help, DMP has made this time a little better and helped them back on their feet through community support, funds and helping with their mortgage.
